Computer/Internet Use Policy In an ongoing effort to keep up with our "information age", the Jasper Public Library is pleased to be able to offer internet access computers for our patron's use. Although the internet contains vast amounts of accurate and up to the minute information, it also contains information that may be outdated, offensive, or obscene. Just as the library cannot control the content of books, it cannot control Internet content. Parents or legal guardians of children under 18 years of age are asked to be aware of and assume the responsibility for what your child is viewing on the internet. The library is not responsible for any objectionable material viewed by the child, whether intentionally or by accident. The staff may ask users to relinquish computer equipment if they observe behavior inconsistent with this policy. Internet users may not:
Computer use will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. No more than two people will be allowed on a computer at one time. Maximum time will be two hours, and will be limited to thirty minutes if others are waiting. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The library's Internet Access Card must be presented by anyone under the age of 18. Any disruption of the library's regular function, internet-related or otherwise, will result in loss of library privileges and possible expulsion from premises. Any willful destruction or removal of library equipment will result in legal action.
Computer and internet use is free; however, charges for print-outs are posted. |
